16/01/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 16 January, the Council of the European Union decided to add Hamas political leader Yahia Sinouar to the EU terrorist list “as part of the EU’s response to the threat posed by Hamas and its brutal and indiscriminate terrorist attacks against Israel on 7 October 2023”. Mr Sinouar is subject to a freeze on his funds and other financial assets in EU Member States. In addition, the EU Council decided to sanction Ahmed Khaled Müller, a member of Al-Shabab in Somalia, for his participation in combat operations and for committing terrorist acts, as part of the restrictive measures against EIIL (Daech) and Al-Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities. He is subject to a travel ban and an asset freeze. (CG)
