Agreement between EU Council and European Parliament on rewording of the Financial Regulation to protect EU funds

The EU Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on Thursday evening (7 December) on the recasting of the financial regulation applicable to the EU budget, bringing it into line with the current Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027.

The aim of these new financial rules is to improve budget management, in particular by means of a robust internal control system and a new interoperable database enabling the beneficiaries of the funds to be tracked.
