European Commission will support Palestinian people with up to €125 million in 2024

08/12/2023 (Agence Europe)As the humanitarian situation in Palestine worsens, the European Commission announced on Friday 8 December that it will provide €125 million in aid to the Palestinian people in 2024. In Gaza, the focus will be on saving lives and restoring access to basic needs (water, food, healthcare, shelter, psychosocial support, education in emergency situation). In the West Bank, where many Palestinian communities are at risk of being or have already been forcibly displaced, according to the EU institution, humanitarian projects will provide protection services (legal aid, material assistance to people targeted by settler violence) and support Palestinians’ access to basic services and education in emergency situations. This humanitarian aid will be provided via the United Nations, the Red Cross and international and local NGOs. To date, the EU has delivered 1,000 tonnes of aid to the people of Gaza via 30 humanitarian airlifts. (MB)
