Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe launches ‘Vigdís Prize for Women’s Empowerment’

29/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 28 November, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe announced the launch of the Vigdís Prize for Women’s Empowerment. Created jointly with the Icelandic government, the prize pays tribute to former Icelandic president Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the first woman in the world to be elected head of state by universal suffrage in 1980.
