27/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 27 November, the delegations within the Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA) approved the text of the agreement between the Community institutions on geographical indications for agricultural products. The SCA has authorised the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council to send a letter to the European Parliament informing it that an agreement at first reading has been reached (see EUROPE 13282/15). Final adoption is scheduled for February 2024. The text is still undergoing legal and linguistic revision. A joint statement by the EU Council and the European Parliament (https://aeur.eu/f/9s0 ) on the delegation by the European Commission of administrative tasks to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will be added to the minutes of the EU Council meeting at which the regulation is formally adopted.
