27/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 27 November, the Council of the European Union adopted a €21 million assistance measure under the ‘European Peace Facility’ to support the bodies forming the ‘Yaoundé architecture’ and to build the capacity of the military and naval actors of certain coastal states – Ghana and Cameroon – involved in maritime security operations in the Gulf of Guinea. This measure will provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) services to the ‘Yaoundé architecture’ to enable the provision of a recognised maritime picture, as well as non-lethal equipment to the navies of Ghana and Cameroon, such as rigid-hulled inflatable boats, fast intervention craft, engines, light naval rotary UAVs, marine generators for ships and underwater diving equipment.
