In China, Wopke Hoekstra points out that CBAM is not a penalty, but an encouragement to adopt sustainable practices

During his visit to Beijing (see EUROPE B13293A34), the European Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra, made a strong appeal to China to join the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) (see EUROPE B13164A12), underlining the need for joint action to tackle climate change, at the opening of a dedicated event organised on Thursday 16 November by the EU-China Partnership Facility.
