European Parliament and EU Council reach provisional agreement on regulation to reduce methane emissions

On the night of Tuesday 14 to Wednesday 15 November, after almost eight hours of discussions, negotiators from the EU institutions reached a provisional agreement on the regulation to reduce methane emissions (see EUROPE B12854A12). 

In the run-up to the COP28, co-rapporteurs Jutta Paulus (Greens/EFA, German) and Pascal Canfin (Renew Europe, French), who said he was “proud”, welcomed the political impact of this text at international level.
