European Commission launches calls for €290 million for research in fields of data and AI

15/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 15 November, the European Commission announced that it had launched a series of calls worth more than €290 million as part of the 2023-2024 Horizon Europe ‘Digital, Industry and Space’ work programme. Research into data and IT technologies, and in particular innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in industry, will be supported to the tune of €85 million. In addition, a further €206 million will fund technology research projects to improve European competitiveness and contribute to the objectives of the ‘European Green Deal’. These calls are aimed in particular at stimulating research into AI and data solutions and research projects that will enable robots to carry out non-repetitive tasks in everyday life.
