“gender budgeting”, European Commission is still struggling to identify impact of EU budget on gender equality

On Monday 23 October, the European Parliament’s Committees on Gender Equality (FEMM), Budget (BUDG) and Budgetary Control (CONT) took stock of the inclusion of a gender dimension in the EU budget (“gender budgeting”).

The 2020 Interinstitutional Agreement on budgetary discipline required the European Commission to develop a methodology for identifying gender-related expenditure in EU programmes.
