EU extends sanctions against Da’esh and Al-Qaeda for another year

23/10/23 (Agence Europe)On Monday 23 October, the EU Council adopted a decision extending for one year, until 31 October 2024, the EU’s restrictive measures against ISIL/Da’esh and Al-Qaeda and associated natural and legal persons, groups, undertakings and entities. This sanctions regime currently applies to 14 individuals and five groups, who are subject to an asset freeze and a ban on entering EU territory. EU persons and entities are also prohibited from making funds, financial assets or economic resources available to them. These autonomous restrictive measures complement the sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council against Da’esh and Al-Qaeda. The decision will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the EU, states the Council in its press release. (CG)
