On Wednesday 19 July, the European Commission authorised a German aid scheme worth €3 billion to support private investment by companies producing equipment of interest for the green transition.
These include batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, heat pumps and equipment for capturing, using and storing carbon dioxide.
Aid will reach eligible businesses in the form of direct grants, tax breaks, subsidised interest rates for new loans or guarantees for new loans. This aid must be granted by 31 December 2025 at the latest.
The measure has been authorised under the Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework on State aid (see EUROPE 13138/1). (Original version in French by Émilie Vanderhulst)
