26/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 29 and Friday 30 June, Europe’s leaders will ask the European Commission to present “urgent measures to ensure sufficient production and availability of the most critical medicines and components”, according to a draft of the European Council’s conclusions dated Sunday 25 June, a copy of which has been sent to EUROPE. The aim of this specific paragraph is to increase pressure on the European Union institution after 21 EU Member States asked at the beginning of May, on Belgium’s initiative, for action at a European level to increase the security of supply of medicines (see EUROPE 13174/9). In particular, these countries are calling for the creation of a voluntary solidarity mechanism between Member States and for the European Medicines Agency to draw up a European list of critical medicines.
