26/06/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 26 June, the Council of the European Union adopted a decision increasing the overall financial ceiling of the European Peace Facility (EPF) by €3.5 billion. “This decision will once again ensure that we have the necessary funds to continue to provide practical military support to our partners’ armed forces”, stressed the High Representative of the Union, Josep Borrell. The EPF now stands at over €12 billion (current prices). According to the draft conclusions of 25 June, the European Council is expected to welcome this increase, which will make it possible to “preserve the global geographical scope of the Facility, to continue providing military support to Ukraine and to maintain the Union’s ability to prevent and swiftly respond to crises and conflicts”.
