12/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 12 June, the EU Ministers for Employment and Social Affairs adopted the recommendation on strengthening social dialogue in the EU. However, Germany expressed its disagreement with the wording on the right to conclude collective agreements “which must remain with the trade unions, as is the case in Germany”, while a recital (12) refers to workers’ associations. In Italy, it is “also the trade unions that are the interlocutors for collective agreements”, said Minister Marina Elvira Calderone, but this recital 12 seems to be in line with Italian practice. Spain, for its part, will “give substance” to this recommendation, as social dialogue is a “priority” of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, stressed Minister Yolanda Díaz Pérez.
