12/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 12 June, the European Commission announced that it had authorised a Croatian scheme worth €31 million to support the livestock and crop production sectors affected by the consequences of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. Aid will be granted to entrepreneurs active in these sectors until 31 December 2023 in the form of direct subsidies not exceeding €250,000 per beneficiary. The Commission found that this aid scheme complied with the European rules on State aid and, more specifically, the Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework (see EUROPE 13138/1) and Article 107(3)(b) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which states, in particular, that aid to remedy a serious disturbance in the economy of a Member State may be considered compatible with the internal market.
