16/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Tuesday 16 May that it had authorised a Bulgarian rescue measure of €26.5 million for Bulgarian Posts EAD. The measure consists of providing emergency liquidity support to the Bulgarian state-owned postal company, which is in difficulty due to inflation and other factors. Bulgaria has undertaken that the loan will be repaid after 6 months or that the Bulgarian Post will submit a restructuring plan for the company to ensure its long-term viability. Such a plan would, if necessary, be submitted to the European Commission for assessment and approval. The Commission assessed the Bulgarian measure under EU state aid rules, and in particular under the Commission’s rescue and restructuring guidelines. (EV)
