12/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission approved on Friday 12 May the revised recovery plan submitted by Estonia in mid-March (see EUROPE 13139/24). Now with €953 million in grants only, the revised plan focuses much more on ecological transition (59% of available funds, compared to 41.5% in the initial plan - see EUROPE 12820/20), the EU institution said in a statement. It also contains a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter providing for one reform (streamlining of renewable energy production authorisation procedures) and two investments (strengthening of the national electricity grid, development of sustainable biogas and biomethane) to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian fossil fuels.
