12/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The High Level Group on the Digital Markets Act (DMA) (see EUROPE 13173/37) met on Friday 12 May for the first time. Discussions focused on the implementation of the DMA, as well as the results of the series of ‘DMA workshops’ organised by the European Commission over the last 6 months on topics such as self-referencing, interoperability and data obligations. The group, composed of 30 representatives nominated by bodies such as the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) or the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), will meet at least once a year. It will have to provide advice and expertise to the European Commission to ensure that the DMA is implemented in a consistent and complementary manner to the General Data Protection Regulation and other sectoral regulations relevant to gatekeepers.
