04/04/23 (Agence Europe) – The European Tax Adviser Federation (ETAF) has expressed its support for a single system of value added tax (VAT) registration in its response to the European Commission’s public consultation on its ‘VAT in the digital age’ initiative (see EUROPE 13080/19), which closed on Tuesday 4 April. ETAF also supports an intelligent electronic invoicing standard that is both human and machine readable. However, it considered that the time limits for issuing and transmitting information should be extended. It considered that a gradual introduction for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as microenterprises could be envisaged. It has deemed it necessary to adopt a General Data Protection Regulation for company data. It stressed the importance of the regulated tax profession for the successful digitalisation of businesses.
