16/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU on Thursday 16 March adopted a €9 million assistance measure under the ‘European Peace Facility’ (EPF) for the Army of North Macedonia (ARMK). The measure will strengthen the capabilities of the ARMK, including by upgrading and modernising the equipment of its light infantry battalion group. Support will include logistics, medical equipment, communications and information systems, intelligence capabilities, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) equipment, engineering and training. The assistance will help increase the army’s ability to maintain and improve operational standards in order to participate in the EU’s CSDP military missions, the EU Council said in its statement. Assistance was requested by North Macedonia in December 2022. (CG)
