08/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 8 March that it had approved the registration of two new agricultural names. These are the Croatian meat ‘Dalmatinska janjetina’, which has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), and the Portuguese olives ‘Azeitona Galega da Beira Baixa’, registered as Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). ‘Dalmatinska janjetina’ is the meat of the lambs of the Dalmatinska pramenka sheep breed, which originated in Croatia. The PGI ‘Azeitona Galega da Beira Baixa’ designates preserved olives obtained from the Galega variety. These two new names are added to the list of 1611 agricultural products already protected at EU level. (LC)
