07/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – According to new Eurostat statistics published on Tuesday 7 March, Poland granted the highest number of temporary protection statuses to Ukrainian refugees in January 2023 (28,445). This was followed by Germany (28,205 statuses granted), Romania (8,955) and Spain (4,250). Compared to December 2022, however, decreases were observed in 21 out of 25 Member States, with the largest decreases in Poland (-3,415 statuses granted compared to December 2022), followed by Romania (-2,305), Italy and Ireland (both -2,000). The largest increase, however, was in Germany (+3,095). To date, the highest numbers of Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection, numbering 4 million in the EU, have been recorded in Germany (971,920) and Poland (969,425).
