03/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Member States’ deputy ambassadors to the European Union approved, on Wednesday 1 March, the transitional arrangements for medical devices. On 6 January, the European Commission had submitted a proposal for a regulation amending the one on medical devices and implantable medical devices (see EUROPE 13094/1) in order to avoid shortages of these devices in the EU during the transition to the new Regulations EU/2017/745 and EU/2017/746. The Member States’ deputy ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper I) had approved the final compromise text on 1 February (see EUROPE 13112/33). The European Parliament voted on the amendment regulation on Thursday 16 February (see EUROPE 13123/6). Formal adoption by the EU Council is expected on Tuesday 7 March, at the EU ‘Education’ Council meeting in Brussels.
