Brussels, 06/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – German S&D MEP Udo Bullmann was elected on Monday 6 February, by 19 votes out of 20, as Chair of the European Parliament’s Sub-Committee on Human Rights, replacing Maria Arena (S&D, Belgian). “For the future, I strongly believe that this sub-committee must continue to defend those who suffer from violence and oppression around the world. Our task will be to defend democracy and human rights and to be the voice of the voiceless”, he said in a statement. Mr Bullmann will form the bureau together with outgoing Vice-Presidents Bernard Guetta (Renew Europe, French), Hannah Neumann (Greens/EFA, German), Christian Sagartz (EPP, Austrian) and Raphaël Glucksmann (S&D, French).
