01/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – In a note to the EU Council on Tuesday 31 January, the European Commission informed Member States of its intention to negotiate a non-binding instrument with the US in the form of a joint declaration to strengthen cooperation between the two sides on several energy issues. The document obtained by EUROPE mentions: - energy security, not only that of the EU, but also the situation on the world energy markets and in the Union’s neighbourhood such as Ukraine and the Western Balkans; - energy policy, including methane, just transition and offshore wind; - energy technology and innovation, including fusion and climate modelling.
