25/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – On 18 January, the European Commission launched a consultation on its draft mental health initiative. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this initiative in her State of the Union address on 14 September 2022 (see EUROPE 13021/14). Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, spoke about the project in the European Parliament on 18 October (see EUROPE 13045/26). The consultation focuses on two pillars: the added value of European action on mental health and the integration of mental health into European and national policies. Several aspects were addressed, including prevention, screening, access to care, psychosocial risks at work, research, specific needs of vulnerable groups, etc. The consultation will remain open until 15 February. The European Commission is planning to adopt its proposal in the second quarter of 2023. Link to the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/52z (EV)
