25/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and its partners launched a new ‘Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership’ on Wednesday 25 January at an event in Rome held from 23 to 25 January. The Partnership aims to transform the blue economy in line with the policy objectives of the ‘European Green Deal’. It should contribute to the objectives of the ‘Oceans Mission’ (see EUROPE 13085/44). This partnership will be co-financed by European funds under the Horizon Europe framework programme. A series of investments that should total €450 million within the framework of 6 research and innovation calls for proposals are planned over 7 years. The Partnership consists of a network of 60 partner institutions from 25 countries and the European Commission. The launch event was an opportunity for participants to discuss synergies with various other European partnerships. The first calls for proposals will be launched in February.
