19/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 19 January, the European Commission launched a new public consultation on a legislative proposal planned for 2023 on the sharing of security-related information between the EU and third countries, according to a statement. “At present, there is no EU mechanism to provide EU law enforcement agencies with systematic and real-time access to security-related information from third countries, such as information about crimes”. In order to strengthen the EU’s internal security, “the Commission shall endeavour to provide reciprocal access to such information between Member States and partner countries, while respecting the European Union’s data protection requirements and standards relating to fundamental rights”. The consultation will remain open until 16 March. More info at: https://aeur.eu/f/4z3 (SP)
