19/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – Those responsible at the highest level for the war in Ukraine must be brought to justice, say MEPs. They adopted a resolution by an overwhelming majority on Thursday 19 January calling for the establishment of a special tribunal to try Russia’s crime of aggression in Ukraine. They also ask the European institutions to support, in the meantime, “the establishment of an interim prosecutor’s office”. The day before, European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, told MEPs that the Commission was considering an international prosecution office that could begin preparations for the work of a potential future special tribunal (see EUROPE 13102/4).
