20/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s S&D group made progress at an extraordinary Bureau meeting on Tuesday 20 December on the format of the group’s own Internal Inquiry to be set up before the European Parliament’s Committee of inquiry into the corruption case revealed on 9 December. The Bureau has defined the broad lines of this internal inquiry and will decide on its final mandate and composition in January 2023, according to a statement. It said it was “appalled by the allegations of corruption in the European Parliament and committed to supporting a thorough investigation and full disclosure”. The Bureau also confirmed a procedure and timetable for the election of the S&D candidate for Vice-President of the European Parliament, to be held on 11 January 2023. (CG)
