20/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 20 December, the European Commission gave the green light to an additional €1.8 billion in funding for Spain under REACT-EU. Managed under the European Social Fund (ESF), this new contribution will reinforce two national and six regional programmes. At national level, €1.1 billion will support short-time working schemes, while €260 million will be dedicated to assisting people fleeing Ukraine. Andalusia will receive €239 million, the Canary Islands €80.1 million, the Valencia region €59 million, Murcia €32.8 million, the Balearic Islands €30.2 million and La Rioja €2.4 million. At regional level, the new funds will specifically support employment and healthcare. In total, Spain will receive €14.5 billion from REACT-EU. (HS)
