Integration of migrants and refugees into labour market, European social partners commit to strengthening their actions

The European Commission and five European social partners - ETUC, BusinessEurope, SGI Europe, SMEUnited and Eurochambres - renewed, on Monday 19 December, their commitment “to integrate refugees and other migrants more effectively into the EU labour market”, says a statement from the EU institution.

They adopted a joint declaration in which they reaffirmed “the importance of a multi-stakeholder approach to facilitate a smooth and rapid integration into the labour market. Such an approach benefits both migrants and host countries through targeted and coordinated measures”.

The partners also stress “the need for coordinated support for people fleeing the war in Ukraine”.

In view of the European Year of Skills 2023, the signatories stress “the need to assess, evaluate and validate skills and qualifications”. They also commit to work on optimising the use of EU funds for the integration of migrants in the labour market.

These organisations will meet “at least twice per year at working level to take stock of the results of our cooperation in the above-mentioned areas”.
