09/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 9 December, the Commission signed a revision of the bilateral agreements with Albania and North Macedonia on implementing the Joint Action Plan on combating terrorism for the Western Balkans, according to a press release. “The renewed agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism, prevention and the fight against violent extremism. This enhanced security engagement is one of the six flagship initiatives listed in the Commission’s Western Balkans Strategy and responds to the May 2018 Sofia Declaration’s call for increased cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism”. Previous agreements with both countries were signed in October 2019. (SP)
