01/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 1 December, European External Action Service spokesperson Peter Stano called for Belarusian authorities to not only let imprisoned opposition leader Maria Kalesnikava have access to the healthcare she needs but also release her. “It is extremely important that she is provided the urgent medical attention and care that the health situation requires”, stressed Mr Stano, explaining that the information on her state of health was “very, very worrying”. He called on Belarusian authorities to ensure her safety “because they are carrying the responsibility for her health and for her well-being while she’s illegally detained”. The opponent was hospitalised on Tuesday, 29 November, for an undisclosed medical emergency. Mr Stano once again demanded that Ms Kalesnikava, as well as all other political prisoners, be released “unconditionally and immediately”. (CG)
