The European Commission adopted, on Monday 28 November, the Spanish and Croatian programmes implementing the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) for the period 2021-2027.
The total amount of funds allocated to Spain, covering this six-year period, is €1.57 billion. The EU’s contribution to this Spanish programme is €1.12 billion. Spain is by far the largest beneficiary of EMFAF 2021-2027 (see EUROPE 13072/10).
Of the programme’s allocation, 41.1% will be devoted to sustainable fisheries, 35.5% will be invested in sustainable aquaculture and product processing and marketing, 9.4% will be devoted to the sustainable blue economy in coastal regions, 5.2% will be invested in support for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors of the Canary Islands and 3.2% will be invested in strengthening international ocean governance.
Croatia. The total amount of funds allocated to Croatia is €348 million for the next 6 years. The EU contribution amounts to €243.6 million.
