29/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – Members of the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for the Reconstruction of Ukraine held, on Tuesday 29 November, a high-level conference with the Ukrainian government and the European Commission. As the Alliance met for the first time, members discussed their future cooperation and prospects for sustainable reconstruction. Vitaliy Klitschko, President of the Alliance and Mayor of Kyiv, also presented an assessment of the damage and recovery/reconstruction needs at local level. Launched in June 2022, the Alliance links European regional and local authorities with their Ukrainian counterparts to assist in the reconstruction of war-torn homes, schools, infrastructure and services. The meeting took place ahead of the plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), which will be held from Wednesday 30 November to Thursday the 1 December. (HS)
