21/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) launched, on Friday 18 November, a call for input on draft guidelines on the use in funds’ names of environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability-related terms. As funds’ names are a powerful marketing tool, ESMA wants to ensure that this does not mislead investors. It considered that these terms must be supported in a material way by evidence of sustainability characteristics or objectives. ESMA is particularly interested in receiving feedback from stakeholders on the introduction of quantitative thresholds for the minimum proportion of investments sufficient to support the ESG or sustainability-related terms in funds’ names. The consultation will close on Monday 20 February 2023. For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/45j (AD)
