21/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 21 November, the European Commission gave the green light to the Bouches-du-Rhône Territorial Just Transition Plan (TJTP). This French region, responsible for more than 17% of the country’s CO2 emissions, will benefit from €148 million from the Just Transition Fund (JTF). Investments will support research and industrial innovation in renewable energy and recycling. They will also aim to encourage a new circular economy and a greener energy mix. As Member States and local authorities struggle to get their Territorial Just Transition Plans approved (see EUROPE 13051/15), the European Court of Auditors called on the Commission to ensure that their implementation is effective, in a report published in early November (see EUROPE 13060/11).
