17/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union finally announced, on Thursday 17 November, via Twitter, that an extraordinary meeting of EU interior ministers would be convened on Friday 25 November to discuss the situation of migratory flows in the Central Mediterranean. The subject had been discussed on Wednesday by the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper), who had expressed their willingness to hold such a meeting, but asked that it focus on concrete initiatives (see EUROPE 13064/9). The Commission has announced to Member States an action plan to reduce the arrival of illegal migrants in the EU via this sea route and prevent departures from North Africa. (SP)
