17/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The annual inflation rate in the euro area was 10.6% in October, up from 9.9% in September, according to figures released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union, on Thursday 17 November. In the EU, it was 11.5%, compared with 10.9% last month. The lowest rates were observed in France (7.1%), Spain (7.3%) and Malta (7.4%). In Spain, the decline has been significant since July (10.7%), while elsewhere, the trend is generally for inflation to rise or remain at a high level. Price increases were highest in Estonia (22.5%), Lithuania (22.1%) and Hungary (21.9%). It reached 11.6% in Germany and 12.6% in Italy. In October, the largest contributions to inflation came from energy (+4.44 percentage points), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (+2.74 pp), and services (+1.82 pp). (MB)
