Majority of initiatives in support of Ukraine win European Citizen’s Prize 2022

08/11/2022 (Agence Europe)During a ceremony on Tuesday, 8 November, the European Parliament awarded the European Citizen’s Prize 2022 against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine. In fact, the 2022 winners have a variety of projects—ranging from the inclusion of people with disabilities to the protection of journalists—with a prevalence, nevertheless, of initiatives related to the reception of refugees fleeing Ukraine. Special recognition was also given to “Promote Ukraine”, a media and [human] rights advocacy platform. Each year, the prize rewards a series of citizens’ initiatives in each European country. These [winners] are selected to encourage cross-border cooperation and a European spirit as well as the protection of EU values and fundamental rights.
