On Monday 10 October, the European Commission launched the Culture Moves Europe programme for the mobility of cultural professionals in Europe, including Ukrainian artists.
With a budget of €21 million for the period 2022-2025, the programme is implemented by the Goethe Institut on behalf of the European Commission. It should promote the mobility of 7,000 artists within the European Union and beyond (Western Balkans, Iceland, Norway, Tunisia) through two types of action: individual mobility and, from 2023, artists’ residencies.
On Monday, the first call for proposals for individual mobility in the disciplines of cultural heritage, architecture, design and fashion, literary translation, visual arts and performance art was launched in all countries participating in the Creative Europe framework programme until May 2023. Beneficiaries will be provided with a grant to cover transport, accommodation and food expenses and, potentially, other specific costs related to disability, remoteness and/or family obligations.
Ukrainian artists unable to leave their country will be eligible for a ‘virtual’ mobility grant of €35 per day, according to a European Commission statement.
