28/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The second interinstitutional meeting on the machinery and equipment regulation, originally scheduled for early October, is expected to take place on 17 November, according to our information gathered on Wednesday 28 September. A second source said that the negotiations are progressing slowly at the technical level due to, among other things, terminology and translation difficulties. There was only one interinstitutional meeting, on 12 July. Talks are focusing on the issue of Annex I, which lists high-risk machines and products and empowers the European Commission to adopt delegated acts on artificial intelligence (AI) and how to integrate AI issues into the specificities of the sector, on technical specifications by implementing acts by the European Commission, and finally on environmental aspects (see EUROPE 13017/9).
