28/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 September the European Commission decided to register a European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) entitled ‘Focus on specific learning disabilities at EU level’. It aims to facilitate access to education for people with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia). The organisers are particularly concerned about the diversity of definitions of learning disabilities and the differences in the methods of testing and supporting people with specific learning disabilities in the Member States. They invite the Commission to present a proposal for common guidelines on how to identify and deal with learning disabilities. At this stage, the Commission has not analysed the substance of the proposal. (LC)
