16/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – Two delegations of MEPs are visiting Ethiopia (20-22 September). A delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), led by David McAllister (EPP, German) will meet with government and civil society representatives to discuss the latest developments in the armed conflict in the Tigray region and global and regional security issues. They will also visit the headquarters of the African Union, before heading to Sudan. A delegation from the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) and the Committee on Development (DEVE), led by Robert Biedron (S&D, Polish), will look at the situation for women in Ethiopia, in particular regarding gender-based violence.
