12/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 9 September the European Commission published an implementing regulation and decision to transpose a UN Security Council resolution and impose sanctions on an additional 20 persons and 25 entities in North Korea. The UN Security Council adopted a decision on 26 July 2022 to update sanctions against Pyongyang, which has increased its ballistic missile tests since January. Also on 9 September, North Korea passed a law allowing it to carry out pre-emptive nuclear strikes. The law will effectively allow Pyongyang to “launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike automatically and immediately to annihilate hostile forces in the event of a foreign threat”, according to the state news agency KCNA.
