26/08/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the Council of the European Union is expected to appoint Navy Captain Rogério Paulo Figueira Martins de Brito as the new Force Commander of the European Union’s EUTM Mozambique mission as of Friday 9 September. The Portuguese authorities have indicated that the future commander will be promoted to Rear Admiral upon his appointment as Force Commander of the EU mission that has ben underway since the end of 2021. The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, is also expected to propose €15 million in support this autumn for the Southern African Development Community mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) under the European Peace Facility to fund the purchase of medical and communications equipment and vehicles.
