26/08/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU will invite national delegations, in a working party, to examine the issue of the European Union’s supply of raw materials on 7 September. The objective will be to determine the main bottlenecks in raw materials supply Member State by Member State, national actions with regard to recycling, and useful regulatory measures to secure the EU’s supply. The Czech Presidency will also seek information on what types of raw materials should be covered by the future legislative proposal, which the European Commission is expected to present in early 2023 (see EUROPE 13003/6). Raw materials supply has become a priority for the European Commission, especially due to the EU’s heavy dependence on third countries, which came to light with the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
