09/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – In our newsletter of Wednesday 8 June, the article “Divisions between political groups cause postponement of three key issues in ‘Fit for 55’ package” reported that MEPs rejected – by 314 votes in favour, 303 against and with 20 abstentions – the Renew Europe and S&D amendment to eliminate, by 2032, the emission allowances that are allocated free of charge to sectors covered by the future ‘Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism’ (CBAM). While the amendment was rejected, the figures provided on the voting results were incorrect: there were 314 votes against, 303 in favour, and 20 abstentions.
